Cascade Trip Part 6: Boating

We did lots of boating on our trip. Not as much as I expected, but we still took the boat out everyday. We were all so tired after running the river that we didn't spend much time tubing and skiing. We took the boat out every evening just to cruise around the lake though. It was quiet and relaxing.

Someday Bret and I want to get a boat. We both love being out on the lake and we want our kids to love it also. Haylee was lucky enough this time to drive the boat. She was so proud of herself!

We saw lots of birds on the lake!

It was always so beautiful around the lake. We didn't go all the way around it, its a huge lake!

I love how Bret has that little smirk of happiness when he's driving the boat.

They were happy to be sitting with Grandma!

Haylee went tubing again. This was Maycie's first time being out there. It didn't last long though. I probably should have been on the same tube as Haylee to make sure she was comfortable doing it again. After all, it has been a year since she did it. She started crying that she was scared and didn't want to tube anymore and I was trying to comfort her but talk Maycie through it all and after a few minutes they were both in tears.

We put Maycie back in the boat, I got on the tube with Haylee and Romers got on the extra tube. That didn't last long either. Haylee was crying the entire time. I didn't want her to end up hating tubing so we put her on the boat.

Then we let the real games begin.

Unfortunately, that didn't last long either.

During our awesome battle, I forgot to let go of the tube and did something to my rotator cuff. I don't know how, but the guys got me back in the boat. I couldn't move my arm at all and it was completely numb. I was kind of panicking. Bret took me to the emergency room in town. It was basically an exam room and a water cooler. They had to call the doctor in and we're pretty sure it took him so long to get there because he had to get all the customers out of his tackle shop before he could leave. He was the grungiest doctor I've ever met! They did x rays and determined nothing was broken but that I needed an MRI which they couldn't do there. I spent the rest of our vacation, one night in Cascade and 10 days in Salt Lake, on very strong drugs with my arm in a sling. It was not fun! I did get in to see an orthopedic surgeon who said my rotator cuff was either torn or strained. Long story with my insurance not approving an MRI to be done in Utah but I still haven't had one. The anti-inflammatory the doctor gave me helped so much so I've just been taking it easy and hopefully it will heal on its own. The numbness is gone and I haven't taken any pain pills in a few days. We'll see how it is in six months but I think it is doing pretty well.

Friday morning, Bret packed up our entire hotel room and organized all of our stuff because he was coming home to North Dakota while I was bringing the girls to Salt Lake for a visit. He took us to the campground and made sure we were settled in then he left. The girls and I rode home in the motorhome with my parents. My mom took such good care of us the entire drive home. I couldn't do anything, I felt really bad that she had to do all the work. I'm thankful the girls were so good!

We spent the next 10 days in Salt Lake with either my parents or Bret's parents. I didn't get all the things done I needed to. I really didn't get anything done because of my arm. But it was fun seeing my friends! Even though I did fall asleep during our conversations.

We had a fun vacation and I can't wait to do more river running next year!!

That, my friends, is the end of our Cascade Trip series. Hope you enjoyed all 6 posts! Make sure you have seen them all. :)
