Christmas 2013

I'm sorry for being away for so long! Remember when I had my computer fixed a few months ago... well I'm pretty sure more things go wrong now than before. I had to use three computers to get this post finished! Its only a week late but its finally here! Christmas!

We had such a fun Christmas!

Haylee brought this Christmas card with her picture home from school but the card got wet. She was fine with taking it apart because she wanted the picture to go on the tree like Maycie's picture.

On Christmas Eve I had the girls throw away their gingerbread houses. I really don't know why I did that... they were just in my way so in the garbage things went! Haylee was so excited to finally be able to eat the candy off it. However, the frosting was so hard she had a challenge getting any candy off!

They girls had to say their final goodbyes in a proper manner.

Hugs and kisses.

When we were getting ready for bed I was reminded that we forgot to make cookies for Santa! Luckily I had a package so we didn't have to make them from scratch.

The girls said they wanted to help stir but I'm pretty sure they only wanted to lick the spoons!

Our finished product! I'm glad they were chocolate cookies because it hides the fact that they were BURNED! Hard as a rock!

The girls felt bad about leaving our elf out of treat time so we found a cute idea on Pinterest for these little donuts!

With the treats out we could finally go to bed!

Now onto Christmas morning!

We were COMPLETELY spoiled! Bret and I went all out last year for the girls. We realized how overboard it was and we didn't want to do that again. Not only do we not have room for tons of things here but we really want to focus on being happy and grateful for what we have. When we moved here we simplified our lives by getting rid of sooooo many things. We came up here with very few toys and we really try to keep it that way. For Christmas we picked two things for each of the girls that they really really wanted and one thing that they both wanted that they could share. We were completely satisfied with the things we had bought and we were finished with Christmas shopping in November. Being done in November meant we had the entire month of December to deal with commercials and shopping in stores filled with Christmas items. Needless to say we ended up getting the girls a couple more things, but really things that they needed. Like a coat and boots. All the rest of our amazing Christmas was from our neighbors, parents and brothers and sisters in law. We are so thankful for everything we got! It seems like everything we were given fits perfectly into our lives. The girls have already given away so many of their old toys and when summer arrives they're excited to play with all their outdoor toys!

Those three brown boxes are packed full of gifts!

We knew Bret had to work Christmas morning so we planned on waking the girls up at 6:00 to open gifts and eat breakfast before Bret left. Bret's family has a big Christmas breakfast tradition. Luckily its a meal that can be mostly be prepared the night before. When 6:00 rolled around I was so tired I just wanted to go back to sleep; but we fought the girls-- they did NOT want to wake up either! Finally by 6:30 we were up. While Bret finished breakfast I opened presents with the girls.

We didn't have Christmas stockings so I pulled a pair of socks out for the girls. They each got two gifts and a note from Santa (and our elf).

Maycie got two Doc Mcstuffins toys. She was so happy with those toys we could have left her other presents for another day!

Haylee opened her first present, Nerf arrows. I love the look on her face. She was so bothered by getting arrows when she didn't have the bow to go with them. She looked at Bret and said "Dad do you want these arrows for your bow and arrow because I don't have anything to use them with." I could not wait for her to open the next present!

After the first round of gifts we took a break for breakfast. Which was delicious! I have such an awesome chef husband! Then we opened the rest of our gift smorgasbord.

Haylee got much some much needed snow boots. The first time she walked outside in them she said "MOM! My feet aren't cold in these boots!"

Zoomer is our new puppy that the girls share. He's the best dog ever!

Between both girls we have 8 new barbies and three fairies!

Maycie got a new, much needed, coat.

Maycie was completely overwhelmed. She didn't know what to play with, look at or touch first. She ended up just sitting empty handed looking around.

She loves Zoomer though!

Our Christmas was amazing! Bret got a waffle iron, the kind that flips over. I got new winter boots and together we got a magic bullet (which I've used almost everyday since Christmas!) I've even been using the magic bullet to mix up waffle mix from scratch so we can have delicious waffles! Thank you to all our family and friends who spoiled us this Christmas! We missed being with our family in Utah but had a fun Christmas with just us four. After all our presents were opened Bret had to rush out the door to work. So I spent the day playing with the girls' toys. When he came home the house was a complete disaster but by the next day we pretty much had everything put away. It was so fun being together as a family. If everything stays the same with Bret's work schedule then he'll have Christmas 2015 off! Yay! :)
