We Bought a Zoo

Well, not really but we get to drive by this herd of elk every time we head into town. Speaking of We Bought a Zoo, have you watched that movie lately? If not, you should. Its one of those movies that when its on tv we all end up squished on the couch with a bowl of popcorn. We still laugh at the funny parts and the girls will sit quietly and watch. In one part Benjamin Mee, played by Matt Damon, forgets to buy butter. He's talking to his two kids who are husking corn and he says

"Hi, guys. I forgot to but butter. How important is butter to this meal tonight? We're gonna take a vote. And remember, it's nine miles each way to the grocery store. Nine miles. Nine miles there, nine miles back. So I think the question we need to ask ourselves as a family, is butter worth your dad driving eighteen miles right now, today? Let's vote."

Next time you see Benjamin he's getting home from the grocery store.

Its not even funny how close this is to my real life now. Have I told you that its 5 miles of DIRT road until we hit pavement? Its 7 miles to the first stop light. Its 9 miles to the sprinkler park which is a couple blocks away from where we go grocery shopping. Its takes us 22 minutes every time we need to go to the store. Each way.

22 minutes. Think about it.
