Oh boy here we go again...

This one tire must be cursed!!! It's always the drivers side rear tire. Ahhhhhhhh! Hopefully this was a one time thing and we're not back to our three times a week schedule!

Reading time

During reading time this morning Haylee yelled from the other room "MOM THIS BOOK DOESN'T HAVE ANY WORDS..... I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!" I laughed and told her to just look at the pictures. She then said "that's not why they make books mom, they make books to read."

Mothers day

More mothers day love! Bret made a delicious roast dinner and cleaned the house today. He keeps reminding the girls to be good because it's mothers day...I'm not sure they care anymore. I think mothers day has lost its excitement for them. After they gave me their coloring pages, noodle necklaces, potted flowers (at least I think there is something in that tuna fish can filled with dirt) they've moved on to father's day. They're already preparing Brets gifts. At least Bret has remembered what day it is :) He got me this HUGE bouquet of roses! I've never seen such a gigantic vase... but I love the flowers! The girls are just memorized. They won't leave them alone.

So far it's been a great day!

Oh children...

Happy mothers day! I got these super fun cards from the girls primary teachers today. Soooo adorable!

Fun Run!!

The three of us girls decided to participate in a color run yesterday! I've always wanted to run in one of these races so when I found out there was in near us I signed up immediately! Google color run. The pictures will convince you to run one of these races as well. Seriously. When I showed the girls the cool pictures they were automatically on board. They were talking about it all week. I'm so glad we did it!
The weather was somewhat cooperative. We are in North Dakota so of course it was windy. Which looking back, running a color run in the wind probably doesn't give the best results, but we still had fun. The wind was blowing 20 mph and it was 37 degrees when we finished the race. I'm not sure what it was when we started but I know it was cold!

I found this race while looking online for a 5k race near me. This was a fundraiser for a new town swimming pool in Tioga, ND. Tioga is about an hour north east of us. It is 1.4 square miles and in 2012 had a population of 1,244...and I doubt its gone up much since then. From what I heard yesterday they were hoping to get 300 people to the event and they didn't have an exact number but there were over 500 people there. We started at the Farm Park and walked all through town. Pretty sure we had to walk on every road in town to get our 3.2 miles in!

When you sign up for a color run one thing they tell you is to wear as much white as possible...and that we did!! I made a white tutu for each of us. The girls had 50 yards of tulle. 50 YARDS! EACH! I was shocked they took so much!...but look how cute and puffy they are!

Here is our nice and clean BEFORE picture.

It was so cold outside everybody was huddled up in this small barn trying to stay warm.

When I registered us, I had to pay for my registration and Haylee's, Maycie was free. With that registration fee we got awesome sparkling white shirts, number tags, tattoos and a color pack (which is dyed corn starch). Maycie was slightly jealous of the shirts but once we splatted them with color she didn't care that hers was different.

Look at how cute these little ballerinas are!

And then this happened...

In preparation for the race to begin, the girls each opened a color pack and had a war.

They quickly went from pretty ballerinas to scary witches!

Maycie's hair instantly went orange!

And then the race began...

I bought a cheap stroller for Maycie to ride in because I knew she wouldn't be walking but I didn't know that Haylee would be in the stroller most of the time also! I started out pushing Maycie, the Haylee pushed her, then Maycie sat on Haylee's lap and I pushed both of them. I know they would have walked more if it had been warmer.

They had color stations along the route where we were sprayed with color. These stations were the only time I could get both girls out of the stroller and running. As soon as they passed the stations they were both huddled in the stroller again!

We did FINISH!...and we weren't last! Thats pretty much my goal every time I run. I'm so happy we did this little race together. I know the girls had so much fun, even though it was freezing cold. They can't wait to go to school and tell their friends all about it!

The air was so dusty from the color explosions at the end it was almost hard to breathe...but everybody had huge smiles.

And here is our AFTER picture! As we ran the wind pretty much cleaned all the dust from our clothes... but I didn't realize how clean I stayed until now... oops.

The girls couldn't wait to get in the car, turn the heater on and eat their snacks!

After the run we drove to Minot to have lunch at Olive Garden.

It was such a fun day! If you have ever wanted to participate in a color run DO IT! We made some fun memories and I love how excited the girls are about being in a race. I'm sure its not the last one we'll be doing this year!

Before and after...
